And then the game is delivered to my door a week later. Call them again and they're like, oh we can cancel the order through our shipping service and reroute it back. Then I get a shipment notification so I'm just like wtf is going on here. Mind you this is a week after I literally tried to immediately cancel an order. So then I let it finish processing, called them back and they said they'd try to cancel the shipping step but there was still a chance it would ship. Calling them did nothing because they didn't seem to know anything about the order process, telling me that the order couldn't be cancelled until it was finished processing. I ordered a game for Christmas, realized I ordered the wrong one (preowned vs new), tried to cancel it because, you know, it needed to be cancelled, and was told that I had to call their customer support to cancel it. Creating the fedex app actually showed be that it was shipped and going to be out soon for delivery. My GameStop app is still showing my preorder as awaiting availability.

It's illegal to keep the money though if you don't pick it up right away. GameStop has announced that another round of PS5 pre-orders are coming in-store and online on Friday, September 25. It's not illegal to not fill a preorder on launch day if you don't have enough copies to go around. When you go pick it up, you tell the employee you preordered it, and that money you put down still goes towards the purchase price. If you don't happen to get yours within those two days, you don't lose your money. With some exceedingly popular games such as Halo or Smash, no matter how many copies are sent, the odds are that it will still sell out, so what Gamestop does is hold every copy they receive for up to two days for those people who preordered.

Most retailers will charge your credit card or other payment method on the day the item is released or. The closer they get, the more of an idea they have. No, preorders generally do not take money immediately. The further ouy from the release date there are, the more of an approximation this number is. Gamestop guesses the approximate number of copies of a game their locations will get.
